Camp Gold Hollow Work Weekends

Spring Opening of Camp Gold Hollow Work Weekend

April 23-24, 2022

Saturday: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; Sunday: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon

Adults and youth ages 16+ are invited to join us on a work weekend to prepare camp for the 2022 program season! There are neither lifeguards nor child supervision provided.

To sign up, contact:  Trisha Dixon, trishadixon@mac.com  916-501-1839  or Carol Zielke,  carolzielke@gmail.com

We have not been able to use the property for Camp Fire programs since the onslaught of COVID.  Now we have the green light to open camp for this summer season, and we are raring to go!

But first we have some work to do to prepare camp for a full summer of fun, and that is why we need YOU!

The tasks we have include:

  • Wipe down 120 mattresses and cots
  • Truck the cots and mattresses out to the kiosks (please let us know if you have a truck).
  • Clean and sanitize the bathrooms, lodge, kitchen, dish room, and Nurse’s Cabin
  • Sweep out kiosks, the boat house, craft shack, rake the paths, and more.
  • We have light work tasks and heavier tasks!
  • Cleaning supplies will be provided, but bring your own gloves, please.

Things you need to know:

  • Start time 9:00am sharp!
  • On Saturday, snacks, a light lunch, and dinner will be provided to those who sign up by April 16th.
  • Bring your water bottle and whatever beverages you prefer for meals.
  • Fire Circle in the evening (7-9pm) includes s’mores.
  • On Sunday a light breakfast will be provided at 8am for those people who spend the night.

People who want to stay overnight are welcome to do so! Please register with Carol Zielke. A bath house will be open, and kiosk decks available. Please be self-sufficient. Everybody is requested to help close camp on Sunday morning.

Every Spring and Fall, friends and supporters of Camp Gold Hollow put on their work gloves and spend a day or weekend volunteering to help open camp for the coming season. There are many projects to do to wake up camp from the winter and get things ready for the summer.
